Bogda Peak is located in the territory of Fukang City in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and is a famous peak in the eastern section of the Tianshan Mountains.
Bogda Peak is at 5445 meters above sea level, a challenging climb due to its steep relief. Its sides slope at angles of between 70° and 80°. It was first climbed in 1981 by an 11-person team from Kyoto, Japan.
The snow on the top of the Bogda Peak Glacier does not melt throughout the year. Near the snow line, it is said to be the edge of the zone of life, however many exotic flowers thrive here, such as Snow Lotus, wild poppy, delphinium, Jinjiao, thyme etc.
The medicinal benefits of these high altitude plants are well known in Chinese medicine, modern molecular biology has advanced even further, isolating the many varieties of molecular compounds for antibiotics and other cancer fighting drugs.
With glistening snow peaks in the background, mirror like mountain lake resting below, exuberant wild flowers bursting out from under the snow, the miracle of life shows no boundaries!
